Dungeons and Dragons was
a popular 80's cartoon - achieving an almost
cult status amongst TV viewers of the time. When
six children (Hank, Eric, Presto, Diana, Bobby, and
Sheila) take a seemingly normal trip to the amusement
park - they discover a Dungeon's and Dragon's ride
which magically transports them to a fantasy land
of sorcery. Once there they befriend a
unicorn called Uni, and receive wise guidance from
the Dungeon Master. They then spent episode
upon episode trying to find their way home.
Rainbow - although
it ran from 1972 - 1992 is remembered by many as a
classic 80's British kid's TV show. Geoffrey
Hayes - the presenter, was joined by Bungle (a big
furry brown bear), Zippy (a loud, mischievous puppet
with a zip up mouth), and George (a shy, camp hippo).
Rod, Jane, and Freddy (Freddy replaced Roger
in 1980) brought music to the show. Some may
also remember that Matthew Corbett from the Sooty
Show was in the group in the early days. This
children's 80s TV programme was based in the Rainbow
House. It was known for the Rainbow Story Book,
and Cockleshell Bay made it's debut on the
show.
The Mysterious Cities of Gold
- a popular 80's cartoon - featured a boy called Esteban
- an orphan who was rescued at sea as a baby. He
was known by the people of Barcelona as a 'child of
the sun' and his personal mission was to find his
father - whilst helping the Spaniards to find the
The Seven Cities of Gold in the New World. Other
characters included Zia, Mendoza, and Tao.
